Think Innovatively, Grow Sustainably
As part of the Kaushal Bodh programme, the students of Class VIII at *Vardhman Academy, Railway Road, Meerut* enthusiastically participated in an innovative Science activity on *"Hydroponics: Growing Plants Without Soil."* The activity aimed to introduce students to a modern and sustainable method of growing plants using water enriched with essential nutrients. Students began the activity by understanding the basic concept of hydroponics and learning that plants do not necessarily require soil for their growth. They explored how roots can absorb water and nutrients directly from a suitable nutrient solution. With the guidance of their teachers, students prepared a simple hydroponic setup using easily available materials and placed suitable plant cuttings or seedlings in it.
This hands-on experience helped them understand the importance of water, nutrients, sunlight, air, and proper support for healthy plant growth. The Hydroponics activity proved to be an engaging and meaningful learning experience. It transformed the theoretical concept of plant nutrition into a practical experiment and encouraged students to explore innovative solutions to real-life agricultural challenges. The activity truly reflected the essence of Kaushal Bodh—learning through exploration, experimentation, collaboration, and practical application.
